Your client opens the link in any web browser, with no sign-in and nothing to install, and the report stays available while your computer is switched off.

## How It Works * **A read-only copy, stored in the cloud.** When you publish a report, SEO Utils uploads a copy of it. Your client opens that copy, not your computer, so your computer can be off. * **Nothing for your client to set up.** The link opens the report straight away. You can add a password if you want one. * **It stays up to date.** With **Publish automatically** on, the report publishes a new version after its runs finish. Updates normally upload only the parts that changed, so they are quicker than the first publish. * **Your report stays yours.** Your client can look at the report but cannot change it. Nothing you do to the published copy changes the report or its data in SEO Utils. {% hint style="info" %} You can publish reports from three tools: [GMB Rank Tracker](/guide/google-my-business-rank-tracker.md), [Organic Rank Tracker](/guide/organic-rank-tracker.md) and [LLM Rank Tracker](/guide/llm-rank-tracker.md). {% endhint %} ## Before You Start You'll need: * **The SEO Utils desktop app** on the computer that has the report. You publish from the desktop app. The option is not available when you use SEO Utils in a browser through Remote Access. * **Remote Access set up on that computer**: paired with your cloud account and switched **On** (see [Remote Access](/guide/remote-access.md)). * **The Remote Access + Agency plan** for that computer (see [Plans and Storage](#plans-and-storage)). * **A report that has finished at least one run.** * **SEO Utils open and online while it publishes.** When the upload is done, your computer can be off. Your client still sees the report. ### When Something Is Missing If this computer cannot publish yet, the dialog shows a setup panel in place of **"Publish now"**, with the one button that fixes it: for example **"Set up Remote Access"** when the computer is not paired, or **"Upgrade to Agency"** when its plan has no Agency. Until then, a waiting report shows **Setup needed**.

## Publishing a Report {% stepper %} {% step %} #### Open the Report Open the GMB Rank Tracker, Organic Rank Tracker or LLM Rank Tracker report you want to share. {% endstep %} {% step %} #### Open "Publish to client" | Report | Where to find it | | ------------------------ | -------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | **GMB Rank Tracker** | Click **Actions** (top right), then **Publish to client** | | **Organic Rank Tracker** | Click the **⋮** button next to **Run Tracker**, then **Publish to client** | | **LLM Rank Tracker** | Click the **⋮** button next to **Run Tracker**, then **Publish to client** | The **Publish to a client** dialog opens. {% hint style="info" %} After the first publish, the **Publish to client** menu item shows the report's status at a glance: a small dot and one word, such as **Published** or **Publishing**. {% endhint %}

{% endstep %} {% step %} #### Turn On "Publish Automatically" Turn on the **Publish automatically** switch: *"Publish a new version each time this report finishes running."* The badge changes to **Shared**. The report publishes after its next run, and the **"Publish now"** button appears. {% endstep %} {% step %} #### Click "Publish Now" Click **"Publish now"** to publish the latest run straight away. A progress card shows how far it is: * **Publishing… preparing the report.** * **Publishing… 1,250 of 3,064 cards**, with a progress bar. The report is uploaded in small pieces called cards, and the count shows how many are sent. * **Publishing… making the new version visible.** You don't have to wait: *"You can close this window. Publishing continues in the background, and reopening it shows where it is."*

{% hint style="info" %} The first publish of a large report can take several minutes. Later versions normally upload only what changed, so they are faster. SEO Utils publishes one report at a time, and the next one starts by itself. {% endhint %} {% endstep %} {% step %} #### Your Report Is Published The badge shows **Published**, with the **Version** number. **Data as of** is the date of the newest finished run of the report, which is the data **"Publish now"** publishes. Your client's page shows its own **Data as of** date at the bottom. The **Client link** appears below the switch. Next, [share the link](#sharing-the-link). {% endstep %} {% endstepper %} ## Sharing the Link The **Client link** field shows the address of the published report, on app.seoutils.app. Click the copy button beside it to copy the link, then send it to your client. Below the link, SEO Utils reminds you: *"Anyone with this link can view it unless you add a password."* {% hint style="warning" %} Without a password, anyone who gets the link can open the report, for example if your client forwards the email. Add a password before you send the link if the report must stay private. {% endhint %} ### Adding a Password {% stepper %} {% step %} #### Enter a Password In **Add a password (optional)**, type the password. The field appears after the report is published. {% endstep %} {% step %} #### Click "Set" SEO Utils confirms: *"The password is set. Clients will be asked for it."* The status line changes to *"Clients with the link and the password can view this report."* {% endstep %} {% step %} #### Send the Password to Your Client SEO Utils does not show the password again after you set it, so keep a note of it. Send it to your client separately from the link. {% endstep %} {% endstepper %} {% hint style="info" %} Your computer must be online to set a password, because the password is stored with the published report and never on your computer. During an upload, the password can be changed once the current publishing step finishes. {% endhint %} ### What Your Client Sees With a Password When your client opens the link, a page titled **This report is protected** asks them to *"Enter the password the report owner shared with you."* They type it and click **"View report"**. A wrong password shows *"That password is not correct."* The browser remembers the password for **30 days**, so your client doesn't have to type it on every visit.

### Changing or Removing the Password * **Change it:** Type the new password in **Change the password** and click **"Set"**. Every browser that used the old password is asked for the new one. * **Remove it:** Click **"Remove"**. SEO Utils confirms: *"The password is removed. Anyone with the link can now view this report."* {% hint style="success" %} Sent the link to the wrong person? Change the password. The old password stops working at once for everyone. {% endhint %} ## Google Maps in Published GMB Reports A published GMB Rank Tracker report draws its map with your **Browser Maps key**, the separate Google Maps key you also use for the map in Remote Access. For a GMB report, the dialog has a **Google Maps key for published reports** section with a **Set** or **Not set** badge. {% hint style="warning" %} *"Published reports use your Browser Maps key, and anyone who opens a published report can see it."* Always restrict this key to the websites it is used on, and never use your **Google Places API Key** for it. {% endhint %} {% stepper %} {% step %} #### Add the Key if It Is Not Set If the badge shows **Not set**, the map of the published report shows **Map unavailable**. Click **"Open the Browser Maps key setting"**. SEO Utils opens **Settings → Services** at the Google My Business Rank Tracker section. Enter the key in **Browser Maps JavaScript Key** and save. To create a key, follow [Setup the Google Places API](/guide/google-my-business-rank-tracker.md#setup-the-google-places-api). Saving the setting does not change reports that are already published. After you add or change the key, click **"Publish now"** on the report, so the published map uses the new key. {% endstep %} {% step %} #### Allow the Published Reports Website In the [Google Cloud Console](https://console.cloud.google.com/apis/credentials), edit the Browser Maps key: 1. Under **Application restrictions**, select **Websites**. 2. Add `https://app.seoutils.app/*`. The dialog shows the exact address to add. 3. Keep your Remote Access address in the list if you use the map in the browser too. 4. Under **API restrictions**, allow the **Maps JavaScript API** and the **Geocoding API**. 5. Click **Save**.

{% endstep %} {% endstepper %} ## Use Your Own Domain for Client Reports On the Agency plan, your clients can open published reports on your own address, such as `reports.your-agency.com`, instead of app.seoutils.app. One domain covers the published reports of every computer on your account, and each report's app.seoutils.app link keeps working. {% stepper %} {% step %} #### Add the Domain Sign in at [app.seoutils.app](https://app.seoutils.app), open **Remote Access** and find **Client report domain**. Enter a subdomain, for example `reports.your-agency.com`, and click **"Add domain"**. Use a subdomain, not your bare domain. {% endstep %} {% step %} #### Add the Two DNS Records The card shows two records to add where your domain's DNS is managed: 1. A **TXT** record that proves you control the domain. 2. A **CNAME** record that points your subdomain to `customers.seo-utils.com`. Under **Show names as**, choose **Host** for providers such as Namecheap or GoDaddy, or **Full name** for Cloudflare or Route 53, and copy each value with its **Copy** button. {% hint style="warning" %} If your DNS is on Cloudflare, set the CNAME record to **DNS only** (grey cloud). A proxied (orange cloud) record does not work. {% endhint %}

{% endstep %} {% step %} #### Wait Until It Is Live The card checks your records every 20 seconds. After your DNS provider publishes them, SEO Utils confirms the domain and issues its certificate, which usually takes a few minutes. The card then shows **Live since** and the address your reports open at.

{% endstep %} {% step %} #### Allow the Domain on Your Google Maps Key Published GMB maps load your Browser Maps key from your domain too. In the [Google Cloud Console](https://console.cloud.google.com/apis/credentials), edit the key and add `https://reports.your-agency.com/*` under **Websites**, next to `https://app.seoutils.app/*`. Without it, maps on your domain show **Map unavailable**. {% endstep %} {% endstepper %} Once the domain is live, the Publish dialog shows the link on your domain as the **Client link**, with the app.seoutils.app address below it. Both open the same report. {% hint style="info" %} To stop using the domain, click **"Remove domain"** on the card. Links on your domain stop working at once; the app.seoutils.app links keep working. Removing the CNAME record at your DNS provider also takes your domain offline. {% endhint %} ## What Your Client Sees Your client sees the report page as it looks in SEO Utils, but read-only: * **One report only.** There is no sidebar, no list of your other reports and no settings. The page shows no account name, computer name or logo. * **The same views and tabs.** For example, the timeline, Bird's Eye and trend views of a GMB report, or the Overview, Pages, Rankings Distribution, Competitors Discovery, Keyword Fluctuation and Insights tabs of an Organic report. * **Date presets that start from the newest data.** A preset such as the past 7 days counts back from the date of the newest run in the published version, not from today. * **A "Data as of" date** at the bottom of the page, so your client knows how fresh the data is. * **Always the latest version.** If your client has the page open when a new version is published, the page reloads by itself, within a few minutes or when they come back to the tab.

What is not included in a published report Some controls need data that is only on your computer. They are hidden in the published copy instead of showing an empty result: * **All reports:** buttons that run, edit or export the report. * **GMB Rank Tracker:** the Money Map and demographics layers, annotations on the timeline, and the search box and "view on map" in the Competitors tab. Clicking a grid marker still lists the competitors at that point. * **Organic Rank Tracker:** the custom date range (the date presets stay), the SERP view of a keyword, the per-keyword insight chart, the SERP features filter of Keyword Fluctuation, key events from Google Analytics, the keyword lists behind the Rankings Distribution counts and the Pages rows, and the search, depth, ignored domains and timeline controls of Competitors Discovery. * **LLM Rank Tracker:** the custom date range (the date presets stay), the button that shows more keyword mentions, the citation domain search and the competitor filter of the search terms table. The citation URL table shows its first page only.
## Keeping the Report Up to Date * **Automatically:** With **Publish automatically** on, each run that finishes, scheduled or started by you, queues a new version. If a newer run finishes before an older version starts to upload, SEO Utils publishes the newer one, so your client may skip a version. * **Right now:** Click **"Publish now"** to publish the latest run without waiting for the next one. * **Usually only changes are uploaded.** Parts of the report that did not change since the last version are normally not uploaded again. A very large report can upload in full. * **If SEO Utils is closed or offline**, publishing waits and continues the next time SEO Utils runs and is online. To stop publishing new versions, turn **Publish automatically** off: *"This report will no longer publish automatically."* The version your client has stays online. To publish again, turn the switch back on. ## Unpublishing or Deleting the Published Copy The buttons at the bottom of the dialog take the report offline: | | **Unpublish** | **Delete published copy** | | ---------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | **What your client sees** | A page saying **This report is not available**\* | A page saying **This link is no longer available** | | **The published copy** | Kept, but hidden | Removed from the cloud | | **The link** | Kept. It works again when you bring the report back. | Stops working for good | | **Publish automatically** | Turned off | Turned off | | **To bring it back** | Click **"Publish now"**. The report is shown again and publishing turns on. | Click **"Publish now"**. The report is published again from the start, at a **new link**. The password is kept. | | **Your report in SEO Utils** | Not affected | Not affected | \* If the report has a password, a client whose browser has not entered it yet sees **This report is protected** first. **Delete published copy** asks you to confirm first. If you only want to take the report out of view for now, use **Unpublish**, which keeps the published copy and the link. After a delete, the old link never works again. When you publish the report again, the **Client link** field shows the new link: send it to your client. If the report had a password, the new link has the same password. * **It takes effect once confirmed:** SEO Utils sends the request in the background, and your client loses access once the publishing service confirms it. The badge then shows **Hidden** or **Removed**. Keep SEO Utils open and online until then. * **During an upload:** An Unpublish or Delete stops the upload first, unless the new version is already being made visible. Then it runs right after. * **While the report is hidden or removed**, the **Publish automatically** switch is off and greyed out. **"Publish now"** is the one way back, and it turns automatic publishing on again. {% hint style="warning" %} Deleting a report in SEO Utils also deletes its published copy, in the same way as **Delete published copy**. Your client's link then stops working for good and shows **This link is no longer available**. {% endhint %} ## See All Your Client Reports The **Client reports** page lists every link you have shared with clients from the computers on your account, newest first. Sign in at [app.seoutils.app](https://app.seoutils.app) and click **Client reports** under **Remote Access** in the sidebar.

* **Find a report:** Search by report name or paste a link, or filter by computer, status and access. Revoked links stay hidden until you choose **Revoked** or **Live and revoked** in the status filter. * **Copy:** Copies the client link. If you use [your own domain](#use-your-own-domain-for-client-reports), the link on your domain comes first, with the app.seoutils.app link below it. * **Rotate:** Gives the same report a new link and stops the old one at once. A password stays on the new link. Send the new link to your client. * **Revoke:** Stops the link at once for everyone you shared it with. This cannot be undone; to keep sharing the report, rotate the link instead. ## Publishing Status The badge in the dialog tells you where the report stands: | Badge | What it means | | ------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | **Not shared** | The report has never been published. | | **Shared** | **Publish automatically** is on, but no version is published yet. It publishes after the next run, or on **Publish now**. | | **Queued** | The publish is waiting to start. The line below the badge says why. | | **Publishing** | The report is being uploaded. The progress card shows how far it is. | | **Published** | Clients can open the link. | | **Unpublishing** / **Removing** | An Unpublish or a Delete is being sent. | | **Hidden** | Unpublished. The link is kept, but clients see a not-available page. | | **Removed** | The published copy and its link were deleted. **"Publish now"** publishes the report again at a new link. | | **Not published** | The latest version was stopped or failed. A red message says why and what to do (see below). | | **Setup needed** | Publishing cannot start on this computer yet. The setup panel says what to do. | | **Paused** | The computer's Agency plan has ended (see [If Your Agency Plan Ends](#if-your-agency-plan-ends)). | In the **Publish to client** menu item, a stopped version shows as **Held** and a failed one as **Failed**. ## Troubleshooting ### In the Publish Dialog | What you see | What to do | | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | **Setup needed** | Click the button on the setup panel. Publishing continues once the setup is done. | | **Paused** | The computer's Agency plan has ended. If the report stays queued, contact support with the name of the report. | | *"Waiting for another report to finish publishing."* | Nothing. Another report is uploading, and this one starts by itself after it. **Publish now** is greyed out until then. | | *"Paused briefly — the publishing service asked us to slow down."* | Nothing. The upload continues by itself at the time shown. | | *"Paused — couldn't reach the publishing service."* | Check the internet connection. The upload retries at the time shown, or click **"Retry now"**. | | *"Publishing could not reach the publishing service."* | Check the internet connection. SEO Utils tries again by itself, or click **"Publish now"**. | | *"The latest run of this report could not be published."* | Click **"Publish now"** to try again. If it keeps failing, contact support. | | *"…the person who shared it no longer has permission to publish."* | An owner shares the report again with the **Publish automatically** switch. If you are the owner, first check that the computer is still on the Remote Access + Agency plan. | | *"…client publishing was not active on this installation's plan at the time."* | Once the plan has Agency again, click **"Publish now"**. | | *"…the person who shared it was removed from its workspace."* | Someone with access to that workspace shares the report again with the **Publish automatically** switch. | | *"This report is no longer shared, so the latest run was not published."* | Click **"Publish now"**. | | *"This report was deleted from the shared portal."* | Make sure the deletion was expected, then click **"Publish now"**. | | *"A newer version of this report is already published."* or *"…data no longer matches the published report…"* | Contact support with the name of the report. Re-running the report alone does not publish it again. | | A message ending in *"no action is needed from you."* | Wait a while. If the message stays, contact support with the name of the report. | | A message asking you to contact support | Contact support with the name of the report. | | **Status unavailable** | SEO Utils could not read the status. It does not mean the report is unpublished. Click **"Try again"**. | | **The password could not be set** | Read the message under it. Post in the [SEO Utils Facebook group](https://www.facebook.com/groups/seoutils). {% endhint %} ## Plans and Storage Publishing reports to clients is part of the **Remote Access + Agency** plan (see [Plans and Pricing](/guide/remote-access.md#plans-and-pricing)). * The plan includes **1 GB** of storage for published reports on that computer. * Storage above that is billed at **$0.50 per GB per month**, separately from the plan. * A part of a report that does not change between versions is stored once, so unchanged parts do not use storage twice. * When a newer version replaces an older one, the older version is cleared automatically about a day later. * **Delete published copy** frees the storage of that report. **Unpublish** keeps it, so you can show the report again. * If a storage payment stays unpaid, every published report on your cloud account shows the not-available page until the payment is made. {% hint style="info" %} Looking for share.seoutils.app or the **Share (Legacy)** action? That older sharing system is retired, and **Publish to client** replaces it. {% endhint %} ## If Your Agency Plan Ends When a computer's plan no longer has Agency (you switch plans, cancel, or a payment stays unpaid after the grace period): * Its client links show **This report is not available**, and the dialog in SEO Utils shows **Paused** with a deadline. * The published copies are kept for **30 days**. Add Agency back in that time and the reports come back at the same links. * After 30 days they are deleted. Publishing again gives the report a new link. The **Remote Access** page warns you how many client reports are affected before you downgrade or cancel. Unpairing the computer or turning Remote Access off does not end Agency. ## Frequently Asked Questions
Does my computer need to be on for my client to view the report? No. Your client opens the published copy, which is stored in the cloud. Your computer only needs to be on, with SEO Utils open and online, to publish a new version.
Can my client change the report? No. The published report is read-only. Your client can switch tabs, date presets and filters, but cannot run, edit or export it, and cannot see your other reports.
How often does the published report update? * With **Publish automatically** on, after the report's runs finish, on its schedule or when you start them. * Any time you click **"Publish now"**.
Does publishing cost extra? Publishing is included in the **Remote Access + Agency** plan, with 1 GB of storage for published reports. Storage above 1 GB is billed at $0.50 per GB per month. See [Plans and Storage](#plans-and-storage).
Does the published report show my brand? No. The published report shows the report only. It shows no logo, no SEO Utils account name and no computer name. To show it on your own address, see [Use Your Own Domain for Client Reports](#use-your-own-domain-for-client-reports).
What happens to published reports if I unpair my computer? They stay available at their links, and their storage keeps counting toward your plan. To publish new versions, pair the computer again (see [Remote Access](/guide/remote-access.md)).
